How to Update Galaxy Note 5 to Android 7.0 Nougat Manually –

1) First, enable ‘USB debugging’ and ‘OEM Unlock’ option from setting>developer option>. To enable Developer Options, go to About phone and tap the Build Number 7 times.

2) Now download the Stock Firmware from above.

3) Now Download the Odin tool from above and extract the zip file.

4) Run the Odin_v3.10.7.exe file on your PC.

5) Connect your Galaxy Note 5 to your PC with the data cable and reboot into the Download/Odin mode.

6) To enter into download mode turn off your phone and press and hold the ‘Home + Volume Down + Power’ buttons together until you see the download mode screen.

7) Once you enter into Download mode, you see an ID: COM port turned blue and Added message in Odin message box means your device has recognized by Odin.
8) If ID: COM doesn’t show means your driver is not correctly installed or try it with different USB cable.

9) Now locate and add the stock firmware file .tar or .md5 file (you downloaded from above) to the AP/PDA tabin Odin.
10) Make sure that only these two options are tick “Auto Reboot” and “F.Reset Time

11) Now click ‘Start‘ button and it will start flashing the file. Wait until you see ‘Pass‘ in Green Color on Odin screen. This step will Install Firmware on Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge.

  2. Tap Software updates > Download update manually.
  3. The device will automatically check for an update if one is available.

  • Use a Samsung USB cable.
  • Back up your data prior to completing the update.

During the update, do not:

  • Use the device or press any keys.
  • Remove the battery, if applicable.
  • Turn off the device.
  • Disconnect the USB cable until the update is complete.

You will not be able to place a call during the update, not even an emergency call.

  4. Allow your computer to install any required drivers for your device. This process may take a few minutes.
  5. Open Smart Switch on your computer, and allow it to make the connection.
  6. If a software update is available for your device, Smart Switch will automatically prompt you to update. At any time, you can click Update.
  7. Click Update to begin downloading the necessary files.

If you experience issues after updating to the latest software version, follow these steps:

  1. Wipe your cache partition to make sure that all system files on your device are put back in order.
    1. Turn off the device.
    2. Press and hold the Volume Up key and theHome key, then press and hold thePower key.
    3. When the Samsung Galaxy Note5 logo screen displays, release only the Power key.
    4. When the Android logo displays, release the Volume Up and the Home key ('Installing system update' will show for about 30 - 60 seconds before showing the Android system recovery menu options).
    5. Press the Volume down key several times key to highlight 'wipe cache partition.'
    6. Press the Power key to select.
    7. Press the Volume down key several times key to highlight 'yes.'
    8. Press the Power key to select.
    9. When the wipe cache partition is complete, 'Reboot system now' is highlighted.
    10. Press the Power key to restart the device.
  2. If wiping the cache partition does not work, you may need to perform a master reset.
    1. Back up data on the internal memory. If you have signed into a Google account on the device, you have activated Anti-theft and will need your Google credentials to finish the Master reset.
    2. From any Home screen, tap the Apps icon.
    3. Tap Settings.
    4. Tap Cloud and accounts.
    5. Tap Backup and reset.
    6. If desired, tap Back up my data to move the slider to ON or OFF.
    7. If desired, tap Restore to move the slider to ON or OFF.
    8. Tap the back key twice to return to the Settings menu, then tap General Management.
    9. Tap Reset.
    10. Tap Factory data reset.
    11. Tap Reset device.
    12. If you have screen lock turned on, enter your PIN or password.
    13. Tap Continue.
    14. Tap Delete all.
