Cisco Teraterm
Tera Term (alternatively TeraTerm) is an open-source, free, software implemented, terminal emulator (communications) program. It emulates different types of computer terminals, from DEC VT100 to DEC VT382. If I understood you correctly, you run ipconfig on your computer to see IP address of your default gateway then trying to connect to it with Teraterm? If yes, then just IP address of DG in teraterm SSH and connect. If cannot connect try to ping it. If it is pingable then first try to connect through Telnet perhaps SSH not enabled at all on router. TeraTerm Project. TeraTerm Project would have been developed terminal emulator 'Tera Term' and SSH module 'TTSSH'. This software is open source software under BSD License.This is Tera Term Pro 2.3 succession version and is being officially recognized by the original author.

An RS-232 serial console servers to be controlled from a terminal or a PC with a terminal emulation program attached to the asynchronous COM1 (or other) serial port.
If your Windows PC doesn’t offer a terminal emulation program (e.g. your PC is running Windows 7), please use Tera Term.
Use the serial setup and set the serial port parameters to 9600 bps (baud rate), 8 data bits, none parity, one stop bit and none handshaking (9600, N, 8, 1).
Please note that Tera Term works also very well as RS-232 terminal emulator. That is all.

Tera Term is a free and open source terminal emulator software app filed under ssh/telnet clients and made available by TeraTerm Project for Windows.

Teraterm Cisco Packet Tracer
Tera Term (rarely TeraTerm) is an open-source, free, software implemented, terminal emulator (communications) program. It emulates different types of computer terminals, from DEC VT100 to DEC VT382. It supports telnet, SSH 1 & 2 and serial port connections. It also has a built-in macro scripting language and a few other useful plugins.
Tera Term on 32-bit and 64-bit PCs
This download is licensed as freeware for the Windows (32-bit and 64-bit) operating system on a laptop or desktop PC from ssh/telnet clients without restrictions. Tera Term 4.105 is available to all software users as a free download for Windows 10 PCs but also without a hitch on Windows 7 and Windows 8.
Compatibility with this terminal emulator software may vary, but will generally run fine under Microsoft Windows 10, Windows 8, Windows 8.1, Windows 7, Windows Vista and Windows XP on either a 32-bit or 64-bit setup. A separate x64 version may be available from TeraTerm Project.
